Crown of Content

“My crown is in my heart, not on my head; not decked with diamonds and Indian stones, nor to be seen: my crown is called content, a crown it is that seldom kings enjoy.”

― William Shakespeare

What a fantastic line from the great William Shakespeare.  This is truly one of the best kept secrets of living a peaceful and powerful life.  In case you’re wondering, “content” is defined as being “in a state of peaceful happiness”.  That sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?  So, the big question to all of us, is “are we currently in a state of peaceful happiness?”  If you are, then you’ve mastered the secret and share the crown with our literary genius and philosopher William Shakespeare.  If not, no worries… let’s look at a couple of things that you can do right now to get closer to wearing your own crown.

A few quick suggestions

  • Be thankful for all the blessings in your life. You can start by being thankful for your eyes and brain which allow you to read this.  Shifting your thoughts to those of gratitude and thankfulness will go a long way towards shifting your entire energy field and outlook on life.  It’s so simple.  Please pause for 30 seconds and find at least 5 things to be thankful for.
  • Know that each breath and heartbeat is a gift to you from your source.  You are intended here; make the most of it!  You woke up this morning just like I did, right?  Usually we don’t think that’s a big deal… each day comes and goes, right?  Well, not so fast.  Your creator put you here for a reason, a purpose, a journey that is unique to you and is the whole reason why you’re here.  Consider that for a moment and tomorrow morning, express your gratitude for the new day before your feet even touch the ground.  You’ll be surprised how much this helps shape your days, weeks, months, etc.
  • Find a way to serve and help others. Realize that you came into this world as an infant with no possessions (nothing) and you’ll leave this world the same way.  So, stop focusing on “stuff” and material, and find a way to serve and appreciate the beauty all around you.  I promise you that you will find rewards greater than money and cars.  Service doesn’t have to take any time or money, by the way.  A simple smile instead of ignoring, compliment in stead of silence, or a blessing instead of a judgement can turn someone’s day around for the better and positively impact them for years to come.  You just never know.
  • Bring happiness with you.  Understand the great saying, “there is no way to happiness; happiness is the way”.  Too often we find ourselves saying, “once I get a better job, I’ll be happy”, or “I’d be happy if I won the lottery”, and so on.  Start off by bringing happiness to everything on your path — all challenges, relationships, jobs, etc.  I know your classmates or colleagues or even family members may want to spend time talking about the negative things going on in the world or in their lives, but you don’t have to think this way.  Go back to gratitude, find something to love and decide that your way is that of happiness.  You may find that they will join you once they see a better way forward.  Go ahead, teach by example.

I strongly encourage you to implement any or all of the above suggestions as soon as possible.  They do not cost a dime, but have the power to change your life.  Be content and harness your own inner greatness!  Please also share with someone you love.

I love you guys!

Cheers,

Patrick
